## Why "faith-owned" is a real differentiator
The clean beauty industry is worth billions. Most of it is greenwashing.
Brands call themselves "natural" while using compounds that have never been safety tested for daily use on human skin. The FDA does not pre-approve cosmetic ingredients. The burden of proof falls to no one. A company can put anything in anything and call it "botanical" or "plant-based."
Faith-owned brands are different in one specific way that matters: the founders answer to something beyond quarterly revenue. That changes what gets cut, what gets added, and what gets left alone entirely. When profit is the only accountability, corner-cutting follows. When accountability runs deeper, the ingredient list looks different.
This guide is about finding brands where that accountability runs all the way through — from farm-sourced fats to the ministry framing on the label.
## How we selected these brands
We looked for four things in every brand: - **Explicit faith foundation** — founder story rooted in Christian or Catholic values, not just a spiritual aesthetic - **Clean ingredient standards** — no synthetic fragrance, no parabens, no unstudied preservatives - **Actual efficacy** — these are skincare products, and they need to work - **Affiliate availability** — real tracking links or honest disclosure if no program exists
If a brand scored on all four, it made the list.
## The brands

### 1. Rooted For Good — Our #1 Pick
**What they make:** Small-batch, all-natural skincare. Face creams, body balms, facial toners, eyelash and eyebrow serums, essential oils. Also home care products.
**Founder story:** Brooke, a mother of six, started Rooted For Good after her husband asked her what was on her bucket list. Her answer: use only natural products for their family of eight for three months. That challenge sparked months of research, DIY recipes, and eventually a brand. The business is run by Brooke and Joseph, faith-grounded, family-first, and mission-driven.
**Who it's for:** Women who want clean skincare with a clear conscience — and who care that their purchase does good. The brand explicitly donates 10% of every sale to causes serving the poor in developing countries. That giving structure is baked in, not occasional.
**The Catholic angle:** Rooted For Good is Catholic-owned and unapologetic about it. Products are formulated for real skin — not trend-driven. The website and emails serve as a ministry reminder of God-given beauty. This is not aesthetic branding applied to a secular product; the faith is the foundation.
**What's in the products:** 100% natural ingredients, therapeutic-grade essential oils, no fillers, no toxins. Simple, recognizable ingredient lists — nothing that requires a chemistry degree to pronounce.
**Affiliate status:** Contact Rooted For Good directly at rootedforgood.com to inquire about their affiliate program. As of 2026, they have not been available through major affiliate networks — reach out directly to the brand.
**Our take:** This is the brand that anchors this guide for a reason. The accountability structure, the giving back, the clean ingredient standards, and the family-run dimension all point the same direction. If you buy one thing from this guide, make it a Rooted For Good product.

### 2. Prophet Skincare
**What they make:** Boutique non-toxic, anti-aging skincare. Serums, moisturizers, eye care, body care, and curated skin packages designed by skin type. The Raw N' Simple line offers single-ingredient, highly affordable options.
**Founder story:** Kelly Francisco, a former Miss New England, celebrity makeup artist, and skincare therapist, spent five years searching for a chemist who shared her standards before founding Prophet Skincare. She and her husband Bruce developed the Radiant Spiritual Beauty method — a philosophy connecting holistic health to outer beauty. The brand is Christian-owned, cruelty-free, and Breast Cancer Action certified.
**Who it's for:** Women over 35 who want anti-aging results without toxic ingredients. The theological framing ("radiant spiritual beauty," "foresee your beauty") is woven throughout, but the products are clinically effective. Kelly and Bruce hand-package every Prophet product with love and care.
**The clean standards:** No parabens, no synthetic fragrances, no phthalates, no petrochemicals, no mineral oils, no formaldehyde, no BHT, no talc, no harmful preservatives. Full ingredient transparency — every ingredient is listed with its purpose explained.
**Affiliate status:** No affiliate program listed on their site as of 2026. Direct inquiry may yield results.

### 3. Crunchi
**What they make:** High-performance clean makeup and skincare. Foundation, primer, concealer, skincare creams and serums. 100% plastic-free primary packaging in glass, paperboard, and aluminum.
**Founder story:** Founded in 2016 by Melanie Petschke and Kelly Kreusler, who met at a mom's night out and bonded over a shared frustration with clean beauty brands that performed poorly. They left a direct sales company when it shifted direction, tried to find existing clean brands to represent, and eventually decided to build their own. Both women are mothers who built the brand debt-free — no outside investors means no pressure to compromise standards.
**Who it's for:** Women who want clean makeup that actually performs — no compromise on either. Crunchi is Leaping Bunny Certified cruelty-free, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, and prioritizes certified organic ingredients. Their Banished List excludes over 1,500 potentially harmful ingredients.
**The clean standards:** No parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, formaldehyde, chemical sunscreens, coal tar, ethoxylated ingredients (including phenoxyethanol). This is one of the strictest ingredient standards in mainstream clean beauty.
**Affiliate status:** Crunchi runs an Advocate program through trained clean-beauty advocates who educate and share. Advocates receive affiliate links with first-buyer discount codes. Contact a Crunchi advocate directly or apply through crunchi.com.

### 4. Nazareth Organics
**What they make:** Small-batch, Catholic-owned tallow skincare — balms, serums, cleansing oils, body butter. Grass-fed tallow sourced from Cottonwood Ranch, a Catholic farm in Front Royal, Virginia.
**Founder story:** Katie and Josh Levitas — Josh is a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. They've moved across the country (Hawaii to California to Virginia) and grown stronger in their Catholic faith through each transition. Katie produces every product by hand, small batch, in their home. The brand is unapologetically Catholic, with Holy Family statues at farmers markets and events.
**Who it's for:** Catholic families who want clean skincare that aligns with a sacramental worldview. The tallow products are made with reverence — Katie purifies tallow three times before adding essential oils and botanicals. "Why did we ever get away from these oils that are so nourishing, and they're straight from God's hands?" is the brand's foundational question.
**The Catholic angle:** This is a Catholic small business in the most literal sense. The tallow is sourced from a Catholic farm. The products are made in a Catholic home. The mission is explicitly about honoring the goodness of God's creation through stewardship.
**Affiliate status:** No affiliate program listed as of 2026.

### 5. Toups & Co. Organics
**What they make:** Small-batch, family-run skincare centered on grass-fed beef tallow. Tallow moisturizer is the signature product. Also facial oils, body balms, and essential oils.
**Founder story:** A Christian family business inspired by traditional, holistic living. Toups & Co. creates skincare with grass-fed tallow, organic olive oil, and essential oils — no toxins, no fillers, no synthetics.
**Who it's for:** Families who want a simple, effective skincare system anchored in ancestral ingredients. The tallow balm approach is bio-identical to human skin — the fatty acid profile mirrors what your skin naturally produces, so absorption is fast and complete.
**The clean standards:** Grass-fed tallow, organic olive oil, therapeutic-grade essential oils. No synthetic additives. Small batch, artisan production.
**Affiliate status:** Available through select affiliate networks. Check major networks for current program availability.

### 6. Herbivore Botanicals
**What they make:** Natural skincare focused on safety, effectiveness, and botanical ingredients. Face oils, serums, cleansers, masks, body care. Known for their sea salt facial spray, bakuchiol serum, and rose hibiscus facial oil.
**Founder story:** Founded by a husband-and-wife team with a commitment to clean ingredients and transparent formulations. Not explicitly faith-branded, but the brand's ethics and ingredient standards are well-documented.
**Who it's for:** Women who want effective natural skincare without heavy essential oil fragrance. Herbivore is known for clean formulations, minimal ingredient lists, and products that actually work. Good entry point for someone transitioning from conventional to clean skincare.
**Affiliate status:** Herbivore Botanicals has a well-established affiliate program with competitive commissions and bonuses for top performers. Apply through their affiliate page.
## What to look for when evaluating any skincare brand
**Ingredient transparency:** If you can't find a full ingredient list on the brand's website, that's a signal. Rooted For Good lists every ingredient with its purpose. Prophet Skincare does the same. That's the standard.
**Sourcing:** Where does the tallow come from? Where are the botanicals sourced? Brands with nothing to hide tell you.
**The founder story:** Real faith-owned brands have documented founder stories. Not just "we believe in natural ingredients" but the actual story of why the brand exists and what the founders believe.
**Giving back:** Several of the brands in this guide give a percentage of sales to charitable causes. Rooted For Good gives 10%. That structure — baked into the business model — is different from a brand that occasionally donates to PR.
## The one thing to cut first
If you are switching from conventional skincare, the highest-leverage single change is removing anything that contains the word "fragrance" (or "parfum") in its ingredient list. Synthetic fragrance is the most common skin irritant in mainstream skincare, and it can be legally listed as a single ingredient even when it contains dozens of undisclosed compounds. Cut it first. Everything else can follow.
## FAQ
**Does "faith-owned" mean the products are better for my skin?** Not automatically. Faith ownership changes the company's accountability structure, which tends to produce cleaner ingredients and more honest marketing. But always evaluate the actual product on its merits — ingredient list, sourcing, and results.
**Are these brands safe for sensitive skin?** Most of these brands are specifically formulated for sensitive or reactive skin. Rooted For Good's products, Nazareth Organics tallow balms, and Prophet Skincare's anti-aging line all prioritize minimal, skin-identical ingredients. Patch test any new product.
**What's the deal with tallow?** Tallow — rendered beef fat — has a fatty acid profile biologically similar to human sebum. It absorbs rapidly, supports the skin barrier, and contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. It has been used for skincare for centuries across many faith traditions. Rooted For Good, Nazareth Organics, and Toups & Co. all use tallow as a primary ingredient.
**Can I use these brands if I'm not religious?** Yes. Faith-owned brands often simply have higher ingredient standards and more transparent sourcing. You do not need to share the founders' faith to benefit from the products.
**Is Rooted For Good available for affiliate promotion?** Contact the brand directly at rootedforgood.com to inquire about their affiliate program. We will update this guide as program details become available.
